How to Make Cranberry Sauce

Once you make your own Cranberry Sauce you will never go back to canned. It is super simple and tastes great warm or cold.
  • 16 oz. fresh cranberries
  • 3/4 cup water
  • 3/4 cup sugar
  • 1/4 tsp. orange zest
  • 1/2 tsp. Apple Pie Spice (or 1/4 tsp. cinnamon, 1/4 tsp. cloves, dash of nutmeg)
Dissolve sugar in water. Add cranberries and simmer for 15 minutes. Add zest and spices.
VARIATIONS – CRANBERRY APPLE SAUCE
Add 3-4 small to medium apples with cranberries. Delete orange zest. You can also add more cinnamon and spices per your taste preference
Homemade Cranberry Sauce is a staple at our house in the fall and winter. You don’t have to wait for Thanksgiving! It goes well with chicken and pork too.The Apple-Cranberry variation is great on it’s own or with yogurt . The sauce freezes well although we usually eat it up before it makes it to the freezer. Enjoy!
